DRC Invests in Renewable Energy

Introduction to Renewable Energy in DRC. The Democratic Republic of Congo has announced plans to increase its renewable energy production. According to Minister of Energy, Jean-Claude Mbele, the government will allocate $100 million for new renewable energy projects. The DRC aims to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and decrease carbon emissions by 20% by 2030. 'We believe that investing in renewable energy is crucial for the future of our country and our planet,' said Minister Mbele. ## Renewable Energy Projects. The DRC has several renewable energy projects in the pipeline, including a 50-megawatt solar plant in the city of Lubumbashi and a 100-megawatt wind farm in the city of Kinshasa. The country is also working to increase energy access to rural areas, with a goal of providing electricity to 80% of the population by 2025. In comparison, South Africa has also made significant strides in renewable energy, with a focus on solar and wind power. Looking ahead, the DRC is poised to become a leader in renewable energy in Africa, with its abundant natural resources and growing economy.
